why 111?
I wanted one page on the internet that could never grow.
Everything else adds a slot whenever it needs one — another feed, another card, another scroll that never ends — and nothing on those pages is worth anything, because there is always room for one more.
So I fixed the number at 111 and left myself no way to raise it.
A place costs whatever its owner paid, plus one dollar. That is the whole mechanism, and there is nothing else to learn.
The money goes to the site, not to the author. Nobody is paid to write here, and no algorithm decides who is read.
If a message is on the front page, it is there because someone paid more than the person who wanted it before them. Nothing else moves it.
